Liturgical Ministries


• Confessions on Saturday 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m
• Communal Penance Services during Advent and Lent.


• Celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of each month at the 10:00 a.m. Mass and 12:00 p.m. Mass.
• If you like to have a private Baptism, it can be scheduled for 3rd Sunday of each month at 3:30 p.m.
• Classes for the parents and/or God parents are held on the 1st Sunday of January, March, June and October.
• These classes are required prior to the actual Baptism.

Matrimony Sacramental Preparation

• Begins at least six months in advance of your wedding.
• Contact parish office for more information.

Liturgy Committee

• This committee consists of representatives of various liturgical ministries at St. John: Altar Servers, Environment and Decorations, Ministers of Communion, Greeters/Ushers, Lectors, Music, Sacristans
• The goal of the committee is to provide vibrant, community–involved liturgy.
• Contact parish office for more information.

Altar Servers

• Boys and girls in 3rd grade or higher are welcome to become altar servers.
• We are also looking for families where both the parent and child are willing to serve together.
• You must have made your First Holy Communion.
• All servers must attend a training session and are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to the Mass for which they are scheduled.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

• The ministers assist the celebrant at Mass with the distribution of Communion.
• The minister represents oneself in a manner reflective of their personal spirituality.
• Training is provided. Regular and substitute minister are needed for each weekend Mass.
• Though not required being open to making home, hospice, and outside of church visits is a plus.


• Every Saturday vigil and Sunday Mass, members of the parish read the Word of the Lord from the pulpit to the parish.
• Readers are scheduled on a three month basis.


• The Sacristan’s duty is to prepare the Church for Mass, including setting up the sacred vessels etc. for the Mass.
• They help coordinate with all the liturgical ministries such as lectors, ushers and ministers of Communion.

Altar Linens Cleaning

• This group takes turns cleaning the church altar linens.
• Sign up to join the monthly schedule.

Clean Church Helpers

• Help with cleaning the Church sanctuary, vestibule and other worship areas, including vacuuming, dusting, and straightening books, cleaning the front entrance of the church and the restrooms.


• Ushers are men and women, who assist with the seating, take up offerings, direct orderly distribution of Communion, invite parishioners to present gifts, and distribute bulletins after Mass.
• They are responsible for greeting worshipers at the beginning of Mass, and assisting for the needs of the parishioners during Mass.

Worship Leaders

• The Worship Leaders greets us at the beginning of Mass, prepares us for the celebration of the Liturgy and returns throughout Mass to leads prayers and read parish announcements.
